Manchester United rivalling City for potential €120million transfer

Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Bayern Munich attacking midfielder Jamal Musiala.

The German talent has impressed at Bayern after facing challenges breaking into Chelsea’s first team. Musiala, who has caught the attention of top clubs like Manchester United, Manchester City, Real Madrid, and Paris Saint-Germain, has two years left on his contract, sparking interest from potential suitors.

However, United might face difficulties enticing him to Old Trafford due to their current performance struggles.

Manchester United certainly have the financial means and prestige to compete for Jamal Musiala’s signature.

However, securing his transfer will depend on various factors, including Musiala’s own preferences, Bayern Munich’s stance, and competition from other interested clubs. While United may be in the race, it remains to be seen if they can ultimately convince Musiala to join them.

Musiala would likely cost around €120million, according to Todo Fichajes, and it could be difficult for MUFC to afford to spend that much on one player as their squad needs so much surgery overall.

City, by contrast, can probably afford to just focus on signing one player, with Musiala perhaps ideal to come in as a long-term replacement for Kevin De Bruyne, or as an upgrade on Jack Grealish.

This also comes as a report from the Daily Star has linked Bernardo Silva with a possible move away from City, with the Portugal international being linked with the likes of Arsenal.

United could face challenges in offloading some of their underperforming attacking players, such as Jadon Sancho and Antony. Mason Greenwood, despite showing promise during a loan spell at Getafe, might also encounter reluctance from potential suitors.

This could potentially impact United’s ability to generate significant revenue from player sales in the current market.
