Liverpool chasing two Sporting CP stars
Liverpool secured a 3-1 victory over Fulham at Craven Cottage on Sunday, revitalizing their hopes for the Premier League title.
Goals from Trent Alexander-Arnold, Ryan Gravenberch, and Diogo Jota propelled Jurgen Klopp’s team to a crucial win following two recent setbacks.
Last week, the Reds suffered a 1-0 defeat to Crystal Palace at Anfield, dealing a blow to their title aspirations. They then faced elimination from the Europa League at the hands of Atalanta midweek.
Despite these challenges, Klopp remains optimistic about Liverpool’s title prospects in his final season in charge. However, significant changes are expected at Anfield this summer as Klopp prepares to depart.
With Klopp’s impending departure, Liverpool’s management is already scouting potential transfer targets. Football Insider reports that the club is considering two defenders to bolster their squad.
According to the report, Liverpool is targeting Sporting CP’s Goncalo Inacio and Ousmane Diomande to strengthen their defense for the upcoming season.
Inacio, 22, has been a long-standing target for Liverpool, while 20-year-old Diomande has recently caught their attention.
Both players have been pivotal for Sporting CP this season, with Inacio appearing in nearly all of the team’s league matches and Diomande making 23 appearances in the competition. They have been key figures in Sporting CP’s pursuit of the league title, often featuring in central defense alongside former Liverpool player Sebastien Coates.
Liverpool is reportedly optimistic about securing the duo, especially with Sporting’s current manager Ruben Amorim expected to take over from Jurgen Klopp at Anfield. If the transition occurs, Amorim may seek to bring Inacio and Diomande with him, making them prime targets for Liverpool.
