Exclusive: Liverpool hoping to bank £70m from Mohamed Salah transfer in 2025, says expert

According to transfer news authority Ben Jacobs, Liverpool may seek to secure Mohamed Salah with a new contract and potentially offload him for up to £70 million in the summer of 2025.

Salah, nearing the end of his current deal, is reportedly a priority for the Reds, who aim to prevent losing him on a free transfer by extending his contract.

Jacobs, speaking exclusively to CaughtOffside for his Daily Briefing column, suggests Liverpool’s strategy is to retain Salah’s services while capitalizing on his market value amid ongoing interest from clubs in the Saudi Pro League.

Despite a recent touchline dispute with Jurgen Klopp, Salah appears inclined to remain in European football for the foreseeable future, offering reassurance to Liverpool fans concerned about his future.

Discussing the Salah transfer situation, Jacobs remarked, “I would imagine between now and then we will see and hear first-hand the mutual respect Klopp and Salah have for each other. I really don’t see the spat being something Salah or Klopp will linger over.

Liverpool expect Salah to stay and be part of Arne Slot’s squad, and both Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes will be tasked with not only convincing him to do one more season at Liverpool but, as importantly, extend his deal. Sources have always indicated Saudi dealmakers are prepared to wait until 2025 for Salah.

This could allow them to get him on a free transfer, and Salah would naturally seek a healthy signing-on fee should that scenario materialize.”

Liverpool is eager for Salah to extend his contract, as this would ensure they could still command a substantial fee if a Saudi offer materializes in 2025, potentially exceeding £70 million with additional bonuses.

An extension would also quell speculation this summer and eliminate the need to entertain astronomical offers that may emerge.

While the possibility of a Saudi bid cannot be entirely discounted, there is skepticism among Saudi dealmakers regarding Salah’s immediate departure from Liverpool or Europe.
